Doco I’m Watching

Unknown: Cave of Bones (Netflix)

The Rising Star expedition recently announced the discovery of Homo naledi, a species of human thought to have ritualistically buried their dead and created engravings with "meaning-making" symbols. Evidence of fire use was also found in the cave system.

I only started watching this doco because it is based near where I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. But, I got about 15 minutes in and was hooked. The story is fascinating and intriguing. Imagine a humanoid species hundreds of thousands of years ago that could have thought about the afterlife.

Podcast I’m Walking to

Chris Williamson’s Modern Wisdom is quickly becoming one of my weekly favourite pods. I love the way he interviews and asks questions. He is direct and informal, really smart and clearly does his research.

Sam Harris, is best known for his meditation and mindfulness podcast called Waking Up. He used to be prevalent on Twitter but recently quit all social medial If you haven’t read or listened to Sam I would be interested to hear your thoughts. He is unbelievably intelligent, a little long-winded and often polarising.

Chris does a great job touching on many different topics to get Sam’s intellectual opinion. The pod is long but spread it out over a few walks you’ll be glad you did.

Book Quote I’m Pondering

The process is about finishing. Finishing games. Finishing workouts. Finishing film sessions. Finishing drives. Finishing reps. Finishing plays. Finishing blocks. Finishing the smallest task you have right in front of you and finishing it well.
